EAD - European Assessment Document

Technical and test Institute for Construction (TZUS) Prague is as Technical Assessment Body (TAB) – member of EOTA  - authorised for preparation of European Assessment Document (EAD) for all types of construction products referred to in the Regulation (EU) No 305/2011 of the European Parliament and of the Council (CPR), Annex IV.

EAD is developed as a basis for processing and issuing European Technical Assessment (ETA), the procedure of its adoption is co-ordinated by the European Organisation for Technical Assessment (EOTA) and the reference of final EADs is published by the European Commission in the Official Journal of the European Union (OJEU). Specifically, it is the documentation of the methods and criteria accepted in EOTA as being applicable for the assessment of the performance of a construction product in relation to its essential characteristics.

In case the construction product is not or not fully covered by any harmonised European Standard (hEN) or any other EAD, the EAD is prepared by authorised TAB on manufacturers request. EADs substitute the previously used European Technical Approval Guidelines (ETAG), they are de facto similar to hEN but their preparation is much faster. In addition, EADs are adopted in cooperation with the manufacturer. Therefore, the process is suitable especially for new and innovative products.

All final EADs are available for download on EOTA website.
