Energy management system (EnMS)
Today, reducing energy demands and improving energy efficiency, use and consumption are the priorities of all industries. Systematic energy management has thus become a powerful tool of different kinds of organizations.
For these reasons, the international standard “ČSN EN ISO 50001:2012 – Energy Management Systems – Requirements with Guidelines for Use” has been prepared and published. This standard is applicable to all types and sizes of organizations irrespective of their geographical, cultural and social conditions, i.e., it is applicable both in heavy industry and, for example, in the hospitality sector or in government.
The ČSN EN ISO 50001:2012 standard specifies requirements for the energy management system (EnMS) to allow organizations to create policies and objectives that take into account legal requirements and information about significant energy aspects.
The standard is based on the common elements of ISO management system standards to ensure high compatibility especially with ČSN EN ISO 9001 and ČSN EN ISO 14001.
The organization can use this standard for EnMS implementation independently or integrate its requirements with other management systems such as quality management systems, environmental management, occupational health and safety management, financial management or risk management.
Effective implementation of the standard within organizations leads above all to demonstrable energy savings, i.e., reduced costs and improved environmental image. Certification also proves and declares a systematic approach in this area and the guarantee of permanent improvement, based on cost savings and reduced negative impact on the environment.
